Photoshop has been on top of its game for a long time, and it’s no surprise that it’s still number one. There are many different versions of Photoshop, but we recommend Adobe Photoshop CC. This comes with robust photo editing capabilities along with all other aspects of Adobe Creative Cloud (Creative Suite). With an impressive track record like Adobe’s, it's hard to go wrong here. Most photographers love Photoshop because they don't need to buy multiple expensive software packages. The ability to edit everything from video files to audio recordings makes it a comprehensive solution for most people. If you're looking for something more affordable, there is also Photoshop Elements which comes in both subscription form or as part of Premiere Elements by completing your purchase through Amazon Marketplace (instead of directly from Adobe). 8) FastStone Image Viewer
A free and easy-to-use image viewer, editor, converter and organizer for Windows. It has a nice array of features that allow you to perform basic to advanced editing on your images. Features include: Image viewing, conversion (e.g. JPEG to PNG), editing (crop, resize, brightness/contrast adjustment, red eye removal), organizing, a slideshow creator and printer support. An excellent alternative to Microsoft's Pictures and Photos app.

9) Snapseed
Snapseed is Google’s excellent photo-editing app. Packed with basic and advanced features, Snapseed offers a ton of ways to enhance your photos. The transform tool allows you to flip, rotate, mirror, and zoom within your image. You can also correct red eye and whiten teeth. When using tools like brush or selective, you can control how much area will be affected by adjusting its opacity. As someone who frequently takes pictures on my iPhone, I also appreciate that if I accidentally move an object during an edit, I can easily undo it by swiping back across my screen. Even if there are other options available for free on Android or iOS that allow for more granular editing, Snapseed remains one of my favorite apps for quick edits on the go.
